My approach

I believe very strongly that an integrated and focused team can deliver great results. I like to learn about your lifestyle and health concerns so I can help treat the root cause, not just the symptoms. Together with you and your medical team I will devise a personalized plan – looking at your diet, stress resiliency, sleep habits, routines, medication and supplement use – that will strive to help you achieve your optimal health.

About Me

“I have a very curious mind and believe we must never stop learning. I stay up to date with the latest research so that I can offer my patients optimal assistance in their health care.”

With longstanding experience and interest in integrative healthcare, I know it isn’t always easy to separate the truth in health information from alternative  facts and fads.

I am an experienced clinician and have been practicing for over 15 years.  I truly believe that achieving optimal health starts with looking for and understanding the root cause of illness.  It is only with that knowledge that we can begin developing a personalized plan through individualized medicine, diet and lifestyle intervention.

I have based my practice on the foundation that the gastrointestinal tract and its ecosystem is the key to optimal physical and mental health.   I work with people who suffer from complaints such as gas, bloating, chronic stomach upset, weight gain around the middle, auto immune diseases, thyroid issues, food reactions, mental health issues and hormonal imbalances – all conditions that seriously disrupt the quality of our lives, especially as we age.

In 2001, I completed the Bensen-Henry Institute (BHI) at the Harvard Medical School certification requirements in Mind Body Medicine. These studies aim to integrate mind-body medicine into mainstream health care through rigorous, evidence-based research and clinical application.

I started my education in health at Queen’s University where I graduated with an Honours degree in Sociology focusing on Health Promotion and Administration. This led to four years working with the Heart and Stroke Foundation before I decided to pursue my studies at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, graduating in 2001.

I am a member of:

Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors
Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors
College of Naturopaths of Ontario
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO)

Town Hall Medicine

The idea for Town Hall Medicine came from my frustration at not being able to find an online destination which curated the latest trusted facts in health research.   I am so excited to see my original idea come to life through the partnership between the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and Genuine Health.

At Town Hall Medicine, we believe that through access to credible science-backed information, you can have the knowledge you need to take steps to live a healthier life.  To give you that knowledge, we have secured top scientists from around the world – the best of the best from such respected institutions as Harvard, UCLA, University of Western Australia, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto – to share their research findings directly with you.  These scientists are highly respected in their fields and are doing the work that is changing how we think about our health.

The topic of our first summit is the fascinating and ever-evolving  microbiome.  As host, I had the honour and privilege of interviewing our experts to learn about their ground breaking research.   My goal through all of the interviews is to elevate the conversation on current health topics by providing information that is accurate, credible, proven and trusted.  I hope you will be inspired to join us in this educational journey to better health.
